The Grand Strand Arena was the dream of one man who wanted to build a privately-owned Arena in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, while at the same time provide a top-of-the-line facility for Coastal Carolina University’s basketball teams. For over two years, Stratagem, as part of the Arena Development Team, assisted in securing the contractually obligated income required to secure the bonds and break ground, while at the same time ensured that all marketing efforts, from public relations to sponsorship packages, were consistent and effective. On behalf of the Arena, Stratagem represented the project to various city and county councils, college officials and development boards, as well as civic and community organizations while also selling suite, seat and sponsorship packages to area businesses and individuals. |

Columbia International University had the unique problem of perhaps being better known overseas than in its own hometown. Long popular among the international missionary community, the distinguished Bible school suffered from lack of awareness and brand presence locally and around the Southeast. Stratagem conducted several months of internal and external marketing research, which included more than 50 one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions with internal and external stakeholders - students, faculty, staff, alumni and outside clergy. Our recommendations included specific ways the school could develop its own marketing culture internally - empowering all those stakeholders to help spread the word. Stratagem developed a print advertising campaign - "Know. Go." - which was tactically deployed around the region. |

Organizations of all sizes often find they must outsource marketing, advertising and public relations functions, or do without. The latter was not an option for South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA), a provider of tax-exempt bond funding programs that help drive economic growth across South Carolina. JEDA works with Stratagem for all its public outreach needs, allowing the agency to concentrate on its own core competency - helping provide much-needed capital to manufacturing plants, non-profit educational organizations, solid-waste disposal operations, health-care facilities of many kinds, and more. Stratagem also organizes special events for JEDA, produces and distributes news releases, newsletters and e-mail blasts, and handles its website. The result has been increased awareness of the agency's offerings and more bond issuances. |

EC&M was in an unusual position. It had been a provider of heavy manufacturing and crane control systems for more than a century and for nearly 50 years a subsidiary of a larger company, Square D. Then EC&M was spun off and suddenly on its own again. Stratagem was called in to conduct comprehensive marketing research for the facility. In talking to the company itself, its customers and its suppliers, we found an obsolete customer service infrastructure and a lack of the strong brand and image presence that EC&M would now need to compete successfully on its own. Stratagem developed new collateral materials and an e-commerce website which includes online ordering capabilities and a 24-hour hotline for servicing the needs of their customers and distributors. Stratagem currently works with EC&M on all of their branding and awareness needs, including direct mail, email marketing, trade shows, new product launches and database development. |

After 50 years of faithful service to the community, Fairfield Memorial Hospital had a problem. Increasingly sandwiched by Columbia to the south and Charlotte to the north, it needed an image facelift. Stratagem helped the hospital put together a public-awareness campaign that focused on the hospital's special high-tech, hightouch niche - its unique combination of small-town caring and a wide range of modern medical services. Stratagem produced and strategically distributed the hospital's first-ever brochure, featuring photos of local people. Using real people from the hospital and the community throughout the brochure resulted in positive feedback from the community, helping them feel proud of their local hospital, and created a new level of excitement among the staff. |
